About the Challenge
Research on 3D mapping plays a vital role in improving our quality of life through numerous smart city applications. However, acquiring 3D data can be expensive, rendering frequent or large-scale data updates impractical. To address this issue, AI technologies are explored to infer 3D information from easily accessible 2D images.
This challenge aims to address the problem statement of “How can AI be used to accurately extract camera pose data from 2D images?” where camera pose is a term used in computer vision (CV) to describe the position and orientation of a camera in 3D space relative to reference coordinate systems.
By leveraging advancements in visual odometry, we hope to push the boundaries of 3D learning and make it more affordable and sustainable for a broader range of real-world applications.

10. PRIZES
Prize(s) are as described on the Challenge Website. Odds of awarding any prize depends on the number of eligible Entries received during the Challenge Period and the quality of its output.
During the Challenge, the then-current ranking of Entries on the public leaderboard will be visible on the Challenge Website.
The top five teams with the best performance on the private leaderboard will be selected as finalists, based on the rules posted on the Challenge Website. These teams will be invited to submit their AI models and technical reports describing their solutions before the posted deadline. The submitted entries will be reviewed and validated by an independent technical review committee comprising domain experts. The committee will select three teams with the best solutions as winners of the Challenge, based on the evaluation metrics posted on the Challenge Website. For the avoidance of doubt, Teams do not qualify as winners by virtue of their top scores alone.
DrivenData or Challenge Sponsor will notify the top three finalists or Entries by email during the dates specified on the Challenge Website. If a finalist does not respond to the notification within three (3) calendar days from the date of such notification, then such finalist shall be disqualified and an alternate finalist will be selected from among all eligible entries received, based on the evaluation results. Shortlisted finalists would be invited to submit a final presentation and to elect a representative for an in-person or virtual final presentation and showcase of their solution at the IJCAI. Shortlisted finalists who are not able to make it for the final presentation will be disqualified, and an alternate finalist will be selected from among all eligible entries received.
You understand that IJCAI has no responsibility with respect to the selection of the potential Challenge winner(s) or awarding any prizes. IJCAI and /or Challenge Sponsor will perform certain administrative functions relating to hosting and showcasing the AI models at the IJCAI, and You agree to abide by the provisions relating to IJCAI and / or Challenge Sponsor under these Challenge Rules.
Challenge Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to not award any prizes for the Challenge, should the number of Entries received and/or the quality of these Entries not meet the expected levels. The Challenge Sponsor’s decision shall be final and binding.
All prizes are subject to Challenge Sponsor’s review and verification of the Participant’s eligibility and compliance with these Challenge Rules, and the compliance of the winning Entries with the Requirements. In the event that the Entry demonstrates non-compliance with these Challenge Rules, DrivenData or Challenge Sponsor may, at its discretion, take either of the following actions: (i) disqualify the Entry(ies); or (ii) require the prize winner to remedy any non-compliance within one week after notice of all issues identified in the Entry(ies) (including, without limitation, the resolution of license conflicts, the fulfilment of all obligations required by software licenses, and the removal of any software that violates the software restrictions).
A prize winner may decline accepting the prize by notifying DrivenData or Challenge Sponsor directly within one (1) week from receipt of win notification in which case such prize winner shall forego any prize or other benefits associated with winning the Challenge. Challenge Sponsor and/or DrivenData reserve the right to disqualify a Participant who so declines the prize.
Prize winners must submit all required documents within five (5) calendar days of receiving a notification from the Challenge Sponsor or DrivenData, or such winner will be deemed to have forfeited the prize and another winner may be selected by the Challenge Sponsor at its sole and absolute discretion. Prize(s) shall be awarded within approximately thirty (30) business days after receipt by Challenge Sponsor or DrivenData of the required prize acceptance documents. Transfer or assignment of a prize is not allowed.
